Terms of Service

These terms govern the use of SympoDesk, operated by Judong Lee. By creating an account or using the service you accept them.
1. The service
SympoDesk is an online service for managing conference submissions, peer review, decisions and programs, including automated checking of references and an Excel add-in.
2. Accounts
You must give accurate information and keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity under your account.
One account belongs to one person. Accounts are free; conferences may be subject to a plan.
3. Roles and responsibilities
Chairs decide how their conference runs: whom to invite, how papers are assigned, and every decision. SympoDesk provides tools; it does not take part in editorial decisions.
Reviewers keep manuscripts and reviews confidential and use them only for the review.
Authors confirm they have the right to submit their manuscript. Authors keep all rights in their work and allow SympoDesk to store, process and show it to the conference's chairs and assigned reviewers for the purpose of the review and program.
4. Reference screening
Automated reference checks compare citations with public scholarly databases. A flag means a reference could not be confirmed; it is not a finding of misconduct. Chairs must check flags themselves before acting on them.
5. Acceptable use
Do not upload unlawful material or malware, try to access data you are not entitled to, disrupt the service, or use it to send unsolicited messages.
6. Plans and fees
The service is free during the pilot. Paid plans, if any, are shown on the Pricing page and agreed before they apply. Plan limits (for example the number of submissions) may be enforced by the service.
7. Availability
We aim for a reliable service but provide it “as is”, without guarantees of uninterrupted availability. Keep your own copies of important data; exports to Excel are available at any time.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and total liability is limited to the fees paid for the affected conference in the previous twelve months.
9. Ending use
You may stop using the service at any time and ask for your account to be deleted. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the website before they take effect.
